Monrovia — The Liberia National Police (LNP) says the increase in the growing trend of reckless driving among motorcycle delivery couriers constitute traffic violations and warned owners of such delivery services to take care.
In a statement released April 9, 2026, the LNP highlighted a sharp increase in traffic violations committed by riders employed by restaurants and fast-food delivery services operating within Monrovia and surrounding areas.
According to the LNP, the erratic behavior of these delivery operators is not just a nuisance but a significant safety hazard. The police noted that these actions by the delivery riders constitute direct violations of established traffic regulations which pose “serious risks” to pedestrians and other motorists and that can contributes to chaos in high-traffic urban zones.
The LNP has officially warned all business owners and individual operators to curb these dangerous practices immediately. The police emphasized that the convenience of rapid food delivery does not provide a license to bypass the law.
“The Liberia National Police will not hesitate to revoke permits granted to any entity whose riders are found violating traffic laws,” the notice stated.
Moving forward, the LNP said, it will increase monitoring, particularly on restricted routes within the city where motorcycle traffic is heavily regulated. Entities found in breach of these rules face could face immediate penalties by Forfeiture of operating permits or seizure of motorcycles involved in reckless maneuvers.
The LNP called for strict enforcement of the vehicle and traffic laws of Liberia while advising all restaurant owners and logistics managers to sensitize their staff immediately to avoid the disruption of their business operations.
“Compliance is not optional,” the LNP stated.
