Monrovia, Liberia – May 20, 2026 – The Liberia Standards Authority (LiSA) is proud to announce its official observance of World Metrology Day 2026, a globally recognized event celebrated annually on May 20 to highlight the importance of measurement science and its impact on modern society.
World Metrology Day underscores the critical role metrology plays in driving international and domestic trade, industrial growth, healthcare services, environmental protection, innovation, consumer protection, and public safety. Accurate and reliable measurements remain essential to ensuring fairness, efficiency, and confidence across all sectors of national development.
From fuel stations and market transactions to hospitals, laboratories, construction projects, and manufacturing industries, metrology directly influences the daily lives of citizens by guaranteeing precision, quality, and accountability. It also strengthens consumer confidence by promoting transparency and fairness in commercial activities where measurements are required.
The Liberia Standards Authority emphasized that effective measurement systems are fundamental to national progress, economic competitiveness, and sustainable development.
