MONROVIA — Minister of Finance and Development Planning Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan has called for greater urgency, accountability, and seamless coordination among government institutions in the execution and delivery of publicly funded infrastructure projects across the country.
Speaking Monday, August 10, 2026, during a high-level “Deep Dive” strategic engagement with the Ministry of Public Works, Minister Ngafuan stressed that high-level inter-agency reviews must transcend mere presentations, routine updates, and abstract statistics.
Instead, he emphasized, the priority must shift toward identifying concrete solutions to persistent bottlenecks hindering budget execution and project timelines.
Minister Ngafuan noted that the collaborative exercise was designed to give the government a transparent, comprehensive assessment of how public funds are being deployed and to evaluate whether budgetary allocations are delivering direct, tangible development outcomes for Liberians.
Welcoming the initiative, Public Works Minister Roland Lafayette Giddings reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to delivering key infrastructure projects. Minister Giddings underscored the necessity of robust, sustained collaboration between both ministries—particularly across critical operational areas such as budget execution, project financing, public procurement, ongoing monitoring, and value-for-money assessments to ensure allocated funds yield measurable results.

The intensive review session brought together key leadership and technical experts from both entities. Attending alongside Minister Ngafuan were MFDP Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs Anthony G. Myers, Deputy Minister for Economic Management Dehpue Y. Zuo, and Assistant Minister for Budget Sarah Mulbah.
The Ministry of Public Works delegation included Deputy Minister for Administration Samukai Dunor and Assistant Minister for Planning, Program, and Research Abraham Rahim Bility, among other senior technical officials.
The joint engagement reflects an intensified push by government financial and development authorities to tighten fiscal oversight, streamline inter-ministerial workflows, and accelerate the delivery of essential national infrastructure projects.
