Capitol Hill, Liberia – A bill introduced by Montserrado County Electoral District #12 Representative Jerry K. Yogboh to amend Section 5.2 of the Code of Conduct has been passed by the House of Representatives.
The legislation was approved during Tuesday’s 15th Day Sitting of the Second Quarter of the Third Session following the adoption of a joint committee report recommending its passage.
According to the committee, the amendment seeks to address legal ambiguities identified during the 2017 and 2023 General and Presidential Elections, particularly concerning the interpretation and implementation of Sections 5.1 and 5.2 of the Code of Conduct. Lawmakers believe the changes will provide greater clarity, strengthen enforcement, and ensure more consistent application of the law.
Following deliberations, the House voted to pass the bill and has forwarded it to the Liberian Senate for concurrence.
