MONROVIA — The Governance Commission (GC) has expressed deep sadness over the sudden passing of Hon. Dusty Lawrence Wolokolie, its former Program Manager for the Public Sector Reform Mandate Area, former Representative, and veteran political activist.
Hon. Wolokolie passed away suddenly at his residence on Thursday morning, May 21, 2026.
In an official statement, the Governance Commission family paid tribute to his invaluable contributions to both the institution and the Republic of Liberia, describing him as a distinguished public servant, respected statesman, and committed advocate.
“His activism, political engagement, and intellectual contributions spanned some of Liberia’s most defining moments,” the Commission stated. “His unwavering dedication to public service and national development left an enduring mark on the country and inspired many across generations.”
During his tenure at the Governance Commission, Hon. Wolokolie was central to driving national initiatives aimed at structural transformation, efficiency, and accountability within the civil service. The GC noted that his commitment, wisdom, and passion for advancing good governance and public sector reform will be remembered with lasting gratitude and admiration.
As news of his passing moves through the political and governance landscape, the Commission extended its deepest condolences to his immediate family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched during his decades of public life.
“Liberia has lost a devoted son, and the Governance Commission has lost a cherished colleague and friend,” the statement concluded. “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
