Monrovia, Liberia: — The Management of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), together with the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and counterparts from the World Bank, is currently undertaking an Implementation Support Mission for the Liberia Urban Water Supply Project (LUWSP) in Monrovia. The mission is being conducted from June 15–19, 2026.
The primary objective of the mission is to review and assess the overall progress of project implementation, with particular emphasis on the completion and commissioning of major civil works.
The mission will also identify and address any outstanding issues requiring corrective actions to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
During the mission, discussions and assessments will focus on key project components, including progress on civil works contracts, the status of water meter installations, site inspections, engineering activities, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), financial management, procurement processes, environmental and social safeguards compliance, as well as project closure and post-closure arrangements.
The mission’s immediate priority is to ensure that all remaining project activities are completed efficiently and that the project is fully commissioned before its scheduled closure in 2026.
The outcomes of this support mission are expected to strengthen implementation efforts, facilitate informed decision-making, and ensure the sustainable delivery of improved urban water services to the people of Liberia.
