Paynesville, Liberia: — Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon has issued a strong wake-up call to the government, urging a decisive shift in national priorities away from perpetual political maneuvering and toward aggressive job creation for ordinary Liberians.
Speaking in a live appearance on ELBC’s Super Morning Show on Monday, June 8, 2026, the influential lawmaker expressed deep concern over the prevailing economic hardships facing citizens, emphasizing that the true measure of any administration’s success lies in the financial stability of its people.
“Liberians are jobless, and we must focus on creating opportunities for them,” Senator Dillon asserted during the broadcast. “The conversation should not only be about politics and elections. It should also be about ensuring that our people can earn a living and support their families.”
The Montserrado County Senator argued that employment is a core civic right rather than a political luxury. He noted that while a government might boast of macroeconomic achievements or receive praise from the international community, such accolades mean very little if they do not translate into tangible livelihood opportunities for the populace.
“The right to work is not only constitutional, it is fundamental,” Dillon added. “Any government may achieve positive things and gain international recognition, but if it does not create jobs for its people, many citizens will remain dissatisfied. I am deeply concerned that we must put our people to work.”
Senator Dillon’s remarks come amid growing public discourse regarding the state of the Liberian economy and the urgent need for sustainable employment pathways for the country’s youth-heavy demographic. His call to action challenges both the executive and legislative branches to pivot toward impactful, citizen-centered economic policies as the nation moves forward.
