MONROVIA — The Liberia National Students’ Union (LINSU) has announced plans to host the Liberia National Quizzing Championship 2026, a nationwide academic competition designed to engage high school students from all fifteen counties. The initiative will begin with county-level contests and culminate in a grand national championship in Monrovia.
Speaking at a news conference Thursday, LINSU President James K. Washington said the program aims to foster a culture of academic excellence and healthy competition among Liberian students.
He emphasized that the championship will provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents in science, mathematics, history, geography, literature, and current affairs.
“Education remains one of the strongest pillars for national development,” Washington declared. “Academic competitions serve as powerful tools for fostering unity, discipline, leadership, and patriotism among Liberia’s future leaders.”
According to James K. Washington LINSU is calling on government institutions, development partners, donors, and educational stakeholders to support the initiative, which it says will empower students and strengthen the intellectual capacity of young people nationwide.
He further that The union also extended appreciation to its partners, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education, NASSCORP, LPRC, and Catholic Relief Services, for their continued support of education and youth empowerment. LINSU noted that such collaboration plays a vital role in promoting academic excellence, leadership development, and innovation among Liberia’s students.
With the Liberia National Quizzing Championship 2026, LINSU hopes to inspire a generation of informed, innovative, and nationally conscious young Liberians.
