Monrovia, Liberia — In a solemn moment of reflection, Vice President Hon. Jeremiah Kpan-Koung has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former Montserrado County Electoral District#7 Representative, Solomon C. George.
Speaking during the lying-in-state ceremony held at the Capitol in Monrovia on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Vice President reflected on his final interaction with the late lawmaker.
“I am here with a heavy heart,” he stated. “Solo, as I affectionately called him, departed my residence on Sunday. I did not see him again until news of his passing reached me. He had reached out through calls and messages regarding his illness and expressed a desire to speak with me one last time. Regrettably, I only became aware of those messages the following day. I deeply wish I had the opportunity to speak with him and hear his final thoughts.”
Mr. George, widely known as “Solo,” passed away at the age of 70 on Friday, February 27, reportedly due to a heart attack.
His sudden passing has been met with profound sorrow across the political community and among residents of District 7.
A member of the Congress for Democratic Change, he served two terms in the House of Representatives and was recognized for his candid approach and strong grassroots engagement. In the 2023 legislative elections, he again contested on the CDC ticket, but was defeated by independent candidate Emmanuel Dahn.
The Vice President’s tribute reflects the high regard in which the late lawmaker was held and underscores the deep sense of loss felt by colleagues, constituents, and the broader Liberian society.
