TAPPITA, Nimba County: — Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Sr., on Saturday officially broke ground for the construction of the Tappita Vocational Training Institute, a transformative educational project expected to expand access to technical and vocational training and create new opportunities for young people across Nimba County and beyond.
Representing President Joseph Nyuma Boakai at the ceremony, Vice President Koung described the project as a major investment in Liberia’s future workforce and a critical step toward equipping young Liberians with the practical skills needed to compete in a rapidly changing economy.
The institute will provide hands-on training in key technical fields, including electrical installation, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, information and communications technology (ICT), and other vocational disciplines.
The program is designed to equip young Liberians with practical, marketable skills that will enhance their employment prospects and promote entrepreneurship.
Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and human capital development under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, Vice President Koung announced that he will personally sponsor the first 100 students admitted to the institute upon its completion.
To further demonstrate his commitment to the project, the Vice President also donated 1,000 bags of cement to support the institute’s initial construction phase.
Established through legislation signed into law by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the Tappita Vocational Training Institute is expected to serve as a center of excellence for technical and vocational education.
The institution will play a vital role in strengthening Liberia’s skilled workforce, fostering economic opportunities, and advancing the country’s long-term sustainable development goals.
