Monrovia, Liberia – Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu has reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening development cooperation with Liberia through stronger collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other United Nations agencies.
The commitment was made on June 16 during a meeting between Ambassador Yin and Mr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, the UNDP Country Representative for Liberia.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yin highlighted the growing partnership between China and Liberia and reiterated Beijing’s readiness to work closely with UNDP and other UN specialized agencies to implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI).
He said the collaboration aims to strengthen South-South cooperation, support Liberia’s economic and social development agenda, and contribute to building what China describes as “a community with a shared future for humanity.”
Ambassador Yin emphasized that China remains committed to expanding practical cooperation with international development partners to help improve livelihoods and promote sustainable development in Liberia.
For his part, UNDP Country Representative Aliou Mamadou Dia expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support to the United Nations and its development agenda.
Mr. Dia welcomed the opportunity for closer cooperation with China in Liberia, noting that stronger collaboration between the UNDP and China could help deliver greater development outcomes and tangible benefits for the Liberian people.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by China and the United Nations to strengthen partnerships in support of Liberia’s national development priorities, including economic growth, poverty reduction, capacity building, and sustainable development.
